Course Details:

This course is designed as an introduction to the principals of first and emergency care. It will not fulfil the criteria of Occupational First Aider requirements under the safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act or First Aid Regulations
|

Objectives:
|
On completion of this course participants will be able to:
- To understand the structure of the back and the ways in which it can become injured
- To understand the principles of safe lifting and handling
- To be able to comply with current legal requirements in the workplace
|

Programme:

Legislation regarding manual handling with reference to the workplace
- How your back works anatomy and mechanisms of injury
- Looking after your back in everyday life
- Safe lifting principles
- Risk assessment
|
|
Who Should Attend
|
Anyone who is engaged in the lifting and handling of loads as part of their role in the workplace
|
|
Pre-Course Requirements
|
No pre course requirements but English is the language in which training is delivered and participants must have a good command of the English language. If participants wish to bring an interpreter this can be arranged with prior notice which must be given to Healthforce
|
|
Assessment / Certification
|
Participants will receive a certificate of attendance and participation in a Manual Handling and back care Course
|
