 Course Name:

Fork Lift Truck Driver Courses

 Course Details:

All successful candidates receive a valid Fork Lift Driver certificate, which is valid for 3 years. There are two main types of forklift trucks, Counterbalance or Reach. Please ensure you are aware of and advise us on what type of truck you wish to be trained on when making a booking. All candidates must provide their own Personal Protective Equipment (e.g. Safety boots, High Visibility Clothing)

 Objectives:

On completion of this course participants will be able to:

  • Operate a forklift truck safely, reducing the risk of injury to operators, colleagues and pedestrians
  • Identify unsafe operating habits and practice and explain the consequences of taking certain kinds of chances
  • Explain the differences between a forklift truck and a car
  • Load and unload safely
  • Refuel/recharge forklift trucks safely
  • Handle awkward loads

Theoretical Training

  • The operator's safety code
  • Daily inspection of vehicles
  • Hydraulic systems
  • Operating practices
  • Written test
  • Feedback

Practical Training

    • Introduction to the Fork Lift Truck
    • Controls and instruments
    • Daily inspection, take-over and maintenance
    • Starting, stopping and steering
    • Simple corners and manoeuvring
    • Operation of hydraulic controls
    • Weight assessment
    • Handling pallets
    • Manoeuvring in confined spaces
    • Handling awkward loads
    • Skill test

 Who Should  Attend

Anyone who is engaged in driving a forklift for the movement of loads as part of their role in the workplace

Pre-Course Requirements 

No pre course requirements but English is the language in which training is delivered and participants must have a good command of the English language. If participants wish to bring an interpreter this can be arranged with prior notice which must be given to Healthforce

 

 Assessment / Certification

Participants complete a theoretical and practical exam.

On successful completion of the exam participants are awarded a Forklift Operators Beginner Certificate.

Certificates are valid for three years and must be refreshed before the date of issue within the 3 year time period

 Duration:

1-4 days depending on number of participants
