Course Details:

This course is designed as an introduction to the principals of first and emergency care. It will not fulfil the criteria of Occupational First Aider requirements under the safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act or First Aid Regulations
|

Objectives:
|
On completion of this course participants will be able to:
- - Assess the extent of an injury
- - Deal with a first aid situation
- - Give basic life saving skills in an emergency situation
|

- - responsibilities of a first aider
- - Scene management
- - Diagnosis and treatment
- - Wounds and bleeding
- - Heart attack and angina
- - CPR
- - Head and spinal injury
- - Shock
- - Unconsciousness
- - Medical emergencies: Epilepsy and Diabetes

Who Should Attend
|
Anyone who would like to know what to do in an emergency situation and develop a basic knowledge of treatment and life saving skills
|

Pre-Course Requirements
|
No pre course requirements but English is the language in which training is delivered and participants must have a good command of the English language. If participants wish to bring an interpreter this can be arranged with prior notice which must be given to Healthforce
|
|
Assessment / Certification
|
Participants will receive a certificate of attendance and participation in Basic First Aid from HealthForce
|
|
